UNTIL THEN - -
My heart can sing when I pause to remember. A heartache here is but a stepping stone. Along a trail that's winding always upward. This troubled world is not my final home. And until then my heart will go on singing. Until then with joy I'll carry on. Until the day my eyes behold the city. Until the day God calls me home.

Dear Amy & Angie,

I can only join with others and thank you for allowing this very personal time to be shared with all of us. Both of you and Pastor Dale are true examples of why we trust Christ alone for our salvation.

On Monday morning when Dallas told me that Pastor Dale was with the Lord the words of the chorus of an old hymn popped into my mind.

O that will be glory for me,
Glory for me, glory for me;
When by His grace I shall look on His face,
That will be glory for me!

I just can’t imagine the thrill of seeing Jesus face and Pastor Dale is there, doing that!

In checking out the verses of the song, they seemed to just describe Pastor Dale’s recent journey.

When all my labors and trials are o’er
And I am safe on that beautiful shore,
Just to be near the dear Lord I adore
Will thru the ages be glory for me.

When, by the gift of His infinite grace,
I am accorded in heaven a place,
Just to be there and to look on His face
Will thru the ages be glory for me.

Friends will be there I have loved long ago,
Joy like a river around be will flow;
Yet, just a smile from my Savior, I know,
Will thru the ages be glory for me.

There are so many wonderful memories of Pastor Dale, too many to record here , but as I run through my memory bank there is something missing: criticism and complaining. In the 13 years of working with Pastor Dale in so many different areas of Friendship Church’s life, and as a friend, I never heard him complain about or criticize anyone!

Philippians 2:13-17 just are a delightful description of Pastor Dales’ life:

For it was God who worked in Pastor Dale’s life to will and to act according to his good purpose. He did everything without complaining or arguing, so that he could become blameless and pure, a child of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which he shone like a star in the universe (Mondovi) as he held out the word of life. He did not run or labor for nothing. But even as his life was poured out like a drink offering to complete the sacrifice of his faithful service, he was rejoicing and he continued to share his faith and trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ to the very last. So you too should be glad and rejoice for the man God created him to be.

I may be watching Dana & Tammy’s little Emma tomorrow as they are taking wedding pictures in Pine City, Minn. Something came up at the last minute for their regular sitter and they aren’t sure if they can find someone else at this late date.

Please know if I am not there my prayers and thoughts are with you both.

May God’s grace and peace be with you.

Kathy

Amy and Angie, We are real sorry that we unable to attend the funeral on Saturday. But will remember you all in our thoughts and prayers.
I wish we would ofbeen able to see Dale, I know Jim and Zach tried but understood he was very weak. We know he is in a better place now with no pain or suffering and we will see him again.
We knew him for about 13 years or so as our pastor and friend. He always was there for you. When we needed help with our daughter, you Amy, and Dale opened your Home to us and her. He was a mentor to my son. When Jim had his heart attack he was there for him too. Jim and Zach loved to talk fishing and hunting with him. He was just the best pastor we had at Friendship we feel. Dale was an awesome and special person andwas loved and respected by many, he will be missed dearly.
Angie you may remember us from owning Zachary's Restaurant in Mondovi.
Thank you so much for this website, your time,effort and sharing this with all.
May God keep you and bless you both and your family.
Love the Miller's Jim, Gail, Ashley,Zachary, and Louana

Dear Amy and Angie,
Dona Jo and I wish to express our sympathy in the loss of your husband and father. No one can truly know your feelings, but Dona Jo lost her mother when she was only 56. We drove all day from Parker, Co to Aurora, NE and arrived about 10 minutes after her mom was gone. So she has some sense of how you feel.
Our joy is to know we will meet again in heaven. What a blessed hope. I know you share that as well.
Dona Jo and I often reflect on our 14 months in Iron River. Many times we prayed for the man and woman God would lead to Grace Baptist Church. We used to pray that God would prepare both the husband and wife to jointly accept the call, even though we didn't know their names. We were excited to learn that you were going to live in the same home we had left five or six months earlier.
Being an interim pastor has many joys and rewards. But leaving Christian friends after fourteen months is difficult. Each week we waited in anticipation for the bulletin and were excited when we would read about the increase in attendance and in the giving. I remember sharing with Dona Jo how we felt our prayers were answered in God's leading the right couple to Iron River. This is also one of the joys of being an interim pastor, realizing you helped to hold the church together until God brought the right pastor and his wife.
Now, God intervenes in a way we least expected. Or should we say, allowed an intervention we least expected. We have heard the reports of how your church prayed fervently and without ceasing, for Dale's healing. It has had and will continue to have an enduring impact. We know that thousands around the world were also praying for his healing as were people from both the church we attend and the one we are currently serving. I know of at least one family who went to this web site in order to see who they were praying for. I'm sure you know God will use this service today, also, to make an impact on the entire community of Iron River.
Pastors from the surrounding area used to tell us about the Satanic darkness of northern Wisconsin. Our prayer is that this service will shine the intense light of the gospel of Jesus Christ into this area. Dr. Bob Smith at Bethel College used to say, "we don't receive our rewards immediately when we get to heaven, because the final results of our work here is not finished yet. We believe Dale's impact on Iron River will be felt for many years to come. Dona Jo and I will be praying for you today during the service. We regret that we are unable to attend. We know the tremendous support you will receive from the church.
I'm always lifted up when I read the words of Paul in 1 Cor. 15:51-58
51)Behold I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52)in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
53)For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54)But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, "Death is swallowed up in victory."
55)O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
56) The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law;
57)but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58)Therefore, my beloved bretheren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. (NASB)
Amy, Dale's and your work are not in vain and I believe that there are many who will yet come to Christ because of your influence.
You may not read this until after the service, but know that we have prayed for you.
May God continue to bless and encourage your hearts.

In Christ's love,
Bob and Dona Jo Pier

Amy and Ang, I wanted to share this story with you.....The day we heard about dale's cancer i planted 5mineature roses tha just happened to be called 'miracle roses". So i called them Dale's roses ,and whenever i tended them i prayed for Dale's miracle. Last evening (the day after the funeral) i checked on them. they were all very healthy looking, but for one. the poor little thing looked like it had undergone an awfully hard summer,the leaves were tattered and bug eaten....but it was the only one that sported the most delicate pink rose, blosseming so beautifully, just like Dale is now. I take those sorts of things as gifts from my Father, and i wnted to share it with you. Love Annie
